
The 10th Metro FM Music Awards were held in Nelspruit at the beautiful Mbombela Stadium on November 27. Mpumalanga welcomed thousands of music lovers from all over South Africa who made their way to the province of the pioneering spirit, as it’s also known.
All the style, strutting, award statues, speeches and performances were broadcast live on South Africa’s biggest broadcasting corporation, SABC1.
The Metro FM Music Awards 2010 was a highlight on the South African entertainment calendar, celebrating music excellence of musicians that enriched the nation with their art; our hosts were Metro FM DJs Azania Ndoro and DJ Sbu, who kept the crowd entertained and introduced the celebrity presenters of each category.
Filled with the country’s top talent, the prestigious awards Introduced new ground breaking and unforgettable features where music’s biggest awards night saw over 14 performance acts joined by contemporary and classical ballet dance. The stage came alight with a medley by DJ Kent, Relo and Liquid Deep, to a classic performance by @Judith Sephuma, a Collab performance by Sipho “Hotstix” Mabusa and Speedy, a mesh-up by Big Nuz, DJ Cleo, Zakes Bantwini and Professor and Character fusing into Winnie Khumalo, Proffessor and Fistaz Mixwell; a World Class Production.
Recognising the best in the industry, leading personalities presented the award segments; highlights were the likes of Khanyi Mbau presenting the award category for Hit Radio Single of the Year, Arthur Mafokate in the category Best Kwaito Album, Zonke Dikana Best R&B Album, David Tlale and Noni Gasa in Best Styled, Clair Mawisa Best collaboration, Katlego Danke Best Music Video and Zizo Beda Best Dance Album.
Hosted outdoors for the first time, the Metro FM Awards were triumphant in hosting an audience of 15 000 show goers and a 500 guest ‘by-invite’ event with a host of celebrities, VIP guests and media.
Mason Company led the production team, with Yvette Mason as the Show’s Executive Producer, Executive Producer of TV, Pepsi Pokane, Bongoe Productions, Director of TV, Clive Morris, Clive Morris Productions, and creative team Victor Masondo as Musical Director, Harold van Buuren as Artistic Director, and Tim Dunn as Creative Production Director.
